Soot in San Antonio, TX

This soot on a wall in San Antonio, Texas was the result of a fire that started due to a candle falling over and ignited a nearby couch.  The homeowner was awoken to his smoke detectors and immediately contacted emergency personnel.  His home was able to be saved and SERVPRO of Alamo Heights was able to quickly respond to begin the mitigation process.  The before photographs shows the soot that had covered the white wall making it appear to be black.  The after picture shows that the building material had to be removed in order to mitigate not only the fire damage, but also the water damage that had occurred when the fire was extinguished.
